RULES AND REGULATIONS
When moving back to the mainland United States from Hawaii, you must provide a title and registration as part of the shipping process. If the vehicle is financed, a release letter must be obtained from the lien holder.
It is Hawaii State Law (Statute 286-57 Unlawful removal of motor vehicles from State) that all privately owned vehicles shipping from Hawaii to the mainland United States are required to abide by. Please consult the Hawaii DMV regulations for more information.
U.S. Coast Guard regulations require that all vehicles have less than a 1/4 tank of gas. Gasoline and car batteries are considered hazardous material.

When it comes to fueling up, vehicles must always maintain a tank that is more than empty but never beyond the one-quarter full mark. Anything above this point could result in the unfortunate consequence of being denied entry.
Prior to shipping, you must make sure any after-market alarm systems are disconnected.
Before your vehicle is shipped, make sure to take out the fire extinguisher in accordance with federal regulations - it's crucial for safety and compliance!
Make sure to remove all personal belongings - no exceptions! Don't forget to double-check the passenger compartment and trunk for anything you may have left behind.
